Is there any other places to obtain a brakes repair certificate other than ASE?

My boyfriend has the opportunity to get a better job but in order to get it he needs a brakes certificate. So far we found that either he can do the ASE exam or pay $250 for a taking a class. The only problem is he has to wait until May to take the ASE exam. As for the class it costs too much money for something he already has experience in. He really needs this job asap. Any advice?
