I have taken the ASE tests 3 times, why can't I pass them?

I have all the ASE study guides, and have studied them endlessly. I almost passed a few of the tests, why are they so damned difficult? Is there any advice out there? I want to be master certified, is there any other study methods for this? Everytime I go to take the tests, they do not have anything to do with the study guides, I paid $180 for all of the study guides, I guess I will just keep trying.
