My employer wants to terminate my employment or I can resign. Can I collect unemployment regardless?

I live in California. My employer wants to terminate my employment due to a private matter that occured in my home during my off duty time, where I was arrested but the DA's office decided to drop the charges. Now my employer wants to still wants to terminate my employment based off Misconduct-criminal conduct, Dishonesty, and Conduct Unbecoming. My employer is offering to allow me to resign, otherwise they will fire me for the above listed reasons. I could really use the money from unemployment due to the fact that I have two children under the ase of 7 that have special needs and require my attention. If I resign...can I get unemployment? If I get fired for the above reasons...can I get unemployent? I have tried reading the edd website, but it gets a bit confusing. Thank you :)
